A new study came out listing the 10 most happiest and the 10 least happiest cities in America. The results are below and you may be shocked by some and not shocked by others. This new study is by Harvard professor Edward Glaeser, Vancouver School of Economics professor Joshua Gottlieb and Harvard doctoral student Oren Ziv. They used data collected in a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey called the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, and then adjusted it for age, sex, race, income and other factors.
But isn’t happiness all circumstantial? Happiness is temporary, but Godly joy is what completes us and lasts. When the joy of the Lord is upon us, it allows to carry a lifestyle of joy, regardless of our situation. Happiness is all by situations (hence, why New York City is #1 least happiest), so it’s healthier to embrace the joy we receive from God.
The words of Jesus from John 15:11: “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
