I have to admit, I’m quite the NBA Geek. Not only do I like the NBA Season, but I follow the offseason heavily as well. The offseason is where championship teams are built through player acquisitions. On July 1st, the NBA kicked off its official Free Agency Period. This is where teams have a chance to pursue players who are not currently under contracts. It’s amazing to see teams fly to player’s houses to make sure they are at their doorsteps at 12:01am on July 1st. Players also fly to perspective cities to get wined and dined by the owner and coaches. The whole NBA Free Agency Period is quite intriguing and overwhelming.
What stands out to me most is that these teams relentlessly pursue the players on their list. They will do whatever possible to exhibit love and appreciation to the player they are courting. In short, nothing will stop these teams from doing whatever they can to obtain their prized prospect.
How amazing would it be for us to be pursued like that? Can you, even in your wildest imagination, being pursued like that?
The truth of the matter is that God’s love for us is never-changing and unending. What we see in the Bible is that God loves us so much, He will stop at no length to bring us back to Him. That’s the Gospel: God sent Jesus Christ to this Earth to take our place on the cross so we can freed from the penalty of our sin.
Wherever you are in your spiritual journey, know that God’s love is available to you daily. God is pursuing after you passionately, how are you responding?
Ezekiel 34:11-16 (NIV)
” `For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. [12] As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. [13] I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land. [14] I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. [15] I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign Lord. [16] I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice.
